Emma McNair, a 2nd-grade student at London Elementary School, was recognized at the RSD School Board meeting for being an Empathetic Leader.
Emma is known for her kindness and dedication to her classmates. She consistently checks in on her peers and strives to lead by example. A fun fact about Emma is that she dreams of becoming a scientist when she grows up, with a special interest in experimenting with elephant toothpaste! Her favorite place to be is in her science and math class, where she loves exploring new ideas.
When asked what an empathetic leader means, Emma said “To fill the heart of others and whenever I see someone not doing the right thing, I go over to them and talk to them.”
Emma added “ Whenever someone is hurt because someone called them something mean, I always try to go over to them and comfort them and ask what is wrong. “
This recognition comes from the Profile of the RSD Graduate—a framework that defines the essential skills and qualities students develop by the time they graduate.
Great job, Emma! Thank you for being an excellent example for your fellow students!
